PROJECT SUMMARY

Golden West College initiated a campus-wide effort to modernize its outdoor digital signage at key intersections, aiming to improve communication with students, staff, and the public. The project involved replacing aging digital signs with modern LED displays, integrating them into existing monument structures, and implementing remote content management using cellular connectivity. To support the new technology, critical electrical improvements were made to ensure a seamless and reliable installation, all while minimizing disruption and utilizing owner-furnished components.

Key Tasks Included:

  • Safely removed the old digital signs while preserving the existing monuments and mounting structures for reuse.
  • Chose new, high-quality LED signs that offer better visibility, energy efficiency, and durability in outdoor environments.
  • Upgraded the electrical setup to safely support the new signage, ensuring long-term reliability.
  • Set up a remote system that allows staff to easily update messages on the signs from anywhere using a cloud-based platform.
  • Delivered training to campus staff on how to use the new system and provided user guides and documentation for future reference.

Golden West College now benefits from a state-of-the-art digital signage system that enhances campus communication and visibility. GST led the transformation by replacing outdated displays with high-resolution LED signage, integrated seamlessly into existing monument structures. The team managed the full lifecycle of the project—including safe removal of legacy units, precise installation using a crane for large-format displays, and electrical upgrades to meet the power demands of the new technology. In addition to installation, GST provided end-user training, detailed documentation, and system configuration files, delivering a reliable, scalable, and future-ready solution tailored to the college’s communication needs.
